Mierisch Family about Laurina: „La Escondida is our only farm where we grow our Laurina, a naturally low in caffeine varietal. It has about half the caffeine as an Arabica (around 0.6% to Arabica’s 1.2%). The reason we planted Laurina in La Escondida is due to trial and error. We’ve planted Laurina on all our farms, however, it does not adapt properly to most of them, on others its production is really low and the cup quality is poor. La Escondida has been the only farm were we’ve seen positive growth and attributes. This farm is also home to our “varietal garden” this is where we test out new varieties before we decide if it’s worth planting it on one of our farms. It’s also the only farm where we irrigate, due to its proximity to a river. This helps to accelerate the flowering stage, hence accelerating the harvest.„
