Beschreibung
Nicaragua Laurina natural
The Laurina bean looks as gorgeous as its name itself: long, thin and elegant. It has about half the caffeine as other Arabicas. (around 0.6% to Arabica’s 1.2%). The variety is very susceptible due to coffee rust and unfavorable weather and soil conditions.
The Mierisch Family owns 14 coffee farms in Nicaragua and Honduras. They tried to cultivate Laurina on every farm. La Escondida has been the only one where they have seen positive growth and attributes. This farm is also home to their “varietal garden”. This is where they test out new varieties and experiment new flavors. It’s their only farm where they irrigate, due to its proximity to a river. This helps to accelerate the flowering stage, hence accelerating the harvest.
